Reviews and Ratings
The hotel is nestled in a quiet spot close to the High Street, providing convenient access to both town and the racecourse. The rooms, though typical of an old hotel, offer a comfy bed and are well-made up daily to a high standard. The service, while friendly and helpful, has limited hours of operation. The location is great for exploring the surroundings, but the proximity to the beer garden can be noisy late at night. The dining experience, although generous and cooked to order, had some shortcomings in availability. Overall, a decent option for a short stay.
The hotel had modern and very clean rooms, but the presence of a macerator in the bathroom led to an uncomfortable stay for my husband who had to sleep on the floor for 2 nights. The service was professional but seemed more focused on processing hotel guests than providing a great experience. The location was convenient for my needs but the proximity to a noisy beer garden/smoking area was a downside. The dining experience was average with a small room and some cooking mishaps. Overall, the hotel offered clean rooms and dealt with issues swiftly, but some aspects could be improved for a more enjoyable stay.
The hotel has some shortcomings like old rooms that smell of cats and dirty carpet, but the service was outstanding and super friendly. The location is convenient for business travelers, even though noise could be an issue at night. The breakfast offers a great selection, and the facilities are decent.
